Moments before…

There are professions in which every action is a choice: between risk and duty, a choice made in a second - under pressure, with sirens blaring, accompanied by fear, screaming and tears.

The Moments Before photo project was created to stop time.

To show what happens before...

...an explosion occurs.

...someone steps into a smoky room.

...a policeman or a rescuer makes a critical decision that will save a life.

The photo project is about people whose work by default involves danger, and during a full-scale war this danger multiplies x100 - in frontline cities, under fire, with the highest level of responsibility. We're talking about the lives of rescuers and police officers from Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv and Dnipro.

That's why Vandog agency was approached to provide technical implementation of the idea and design of the project.

Task

Thanks to technology, we can convey the most difficult things: emotional tension, inner movement, a moment on the edge.

Not to ‘make a website’, but to create a web experience, online storytelling, in which every user action is a trigger for emotions, consistent development of the story, a tangle that literally unravels with every scroll.

Solution

We have created a space that responds to every user movement: opening the site launches a script, interaction activates animation, and the rhythm of the page adapts to the person's pace. A complete story that comes to life through the visitor's actions.

We created a start-up animation that immediately immerses you in an atmosphere of tension and anticipation, and then built the site as a responsive system. Its logic changes depending on the device: desktop and mobile have their own rhythm, pace, and depth. We avoided template solutions - every element, interaction, and reaction was assembled manually. Content, animation, effects - everything is flexible, manageable, adaptive. And all of this is not for the sake of technology as such, but for the sake of a feeling: a moment that lasts only a moment, but leaves an emotion for a long time.

There is no hardcode. Everything is managed through the CMS

We have implemented a convenient administrative panel that allows you to manage the platform without IT specialists:

• speed and style of content appearance;
• visual effects of each section;
• choice of animation, replacement of illustrations, text size and placement. Everything is managed through the CMS

More than inclusivity standards

Accessibility here is about flexibility:

• changing the contrast or switching to black and white;
• adjusting line spacing;
• adaptation for people with sensitivity to light and animations.
